Just when  many were proclaiming the death of the Alabama Children’s Family Act, Senator Bussman and two other freshman Republican State Senators pushed this irresponsible legislation forward. (Sen. Gerald Dial rightly voted against it.) According to an AP report:

A divided Alabama Senate committee this morning approved a controversial overhaul of child custody laws that will require judges to split children’s time equally between parents unless one of the parents is found to be unfit.

The next battleground will be the Rules committee which determines the scheduling of bills to be debated on the senate floor.
